Bihar, India, October 4, 2026 — India’s Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has arrested six Nepali citizens and seized 24 sacks of chocolates weighing 960 kilograms during an anti-smuggling operation near Nayaktola village along the India–Nepal border.
According to the SSB, personnel from the E Company Border Outpost (BOP) Nayaktola under the 71st Battalion conducted the operation on Saturday evening following a specific tip-off. The area borders Nepal’s Bara district.
The SSB said its personnel had been monitoring individuals who entered India from Nepal on bicycles loaded with goods and were returning towards Nepal. After noticing suspicious activity, the team cordoned off the area and detained them.
During the search, officials recovered 24 sacks of chocolates loaded onto six bicycles. The SSB said the chocolates were being illegally transported from India into Nepal.
The arrested individuals were identified as Raju Mahato, 40; Ramanand Mahato, 48; Surendra Mahato, 45; Rampravesh Mandal, 47; Mahendra Mahato, 45; and Bikaskumar Mandal, 22. All six are residents of Matiarwa village in Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City of Bara district.
